Beatty Promotes Regular Checks for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 21, 2019
Announcements

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual initiative to increase awareness around breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment. As a strong advocate for women's health, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"It is startling to hear that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That is why it is more important than ever that we fight for greater funding to the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute so that we can continue on progress being made and find a cure once and for all. If you are at higher risk of breast cancer, be sure to receive regular mammograms, conduct self-examinations, and talk to their doctor about your family history."

During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please be sure to share your stories online by using #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, #BCAM, and #ThinkPink. For more information on National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's website.
