Beatty Marks the Significance of National Recovery Month
September is National Recovery Month, an annual, month-long initiative that aims to increase awareness and understanding of substance abuse, addiction, and mental illness. This year’s theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery: Celebrating Connections.” In recognition of National Recovery Month, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:
“Over 20 million Americans are living with some form of substance abuse disorder, including more than 700,000 Ohioans. Addiction and substance abuse devastates individuals and families physically, psychologically, financially, and emotionally. That is why we must do more to to help support our neighbors on the road to recovery. In that spirit, I urge my congressional colleagues to work together to erase the stigma surrounding substance abuse and improve support services to curb our nation’s addiction crisis. Now is the time to take a stand and make a difference.”
