July 21, 2020
Announcements

Ten years ago, on July 21, 2010, President Barack Obama signed into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank), P.L. 111-203, a major piece of legislation to protect consumers, investors, and our nation's economy from another financial crisis like that of the 2008 Financial Crisis. To mark Dodd-Frank's ten-year anniversary, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"At a time when countless hardworking Americans, families, small businesses, seniors, students, veterans, communities of color and the middle-class are barely scraping by during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the importance of the Dodd-Frank Act cannot be overstated. Yet, the Trump Administration is intent on rolling back many of the law's fundamental, consumer protection provisions that safeguard the constituents of Ohio's Third Congressional District and all Americans from predatory financial organizations, products and schemes. As Chair of the Financial Services Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee and a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, please know I am doing everything in power to protect the wallets, livelihood and financial futures of our fellow citizens as well as build on Dodd-Frank's successes."
