Beatty Celebrates 8th Anniversary of Dodd-Frank Act
On July 21, 2010, President Barack Obama signed into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act), P.L. 111-203, to promote the financial stability of the United States, improve accountability and transparency in the financial system, protect the American taxpayer, and protect consumers from abusive financial services practices.
U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement in recognition of the eight-year anniversary of the Dodd-Frank Act:
"In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, Congress passed the landmark Dodd-Frank Act to strengthen regulation of financial institutions, protect American consumers, and avoid future significant market losses. In that spirit, as we celebrate Dodd-Frank's eighth anniversary, we must continue fighting attempts to claw-back important consumer protection provisions in the historic law. As a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, I will continue to work with my colleagues to find ways to improve upon the law, while also balancing the overarching need to protect harmful rollbacks that could place American consumers' and countless families' financial livelihood at risk."
