FY24 Community Project Funding
Community Project Funding (CPF) allows Members of Congress to request direct funding for specific projects that benefit the communities they represent. CPF is separate from federal grants and funding apportioned by formula.
As part of the important reforms for community project funding, Congresswoman Beatty is publicly disclosing the projects her office is submitting to the committee. In compliance with House Rules and Committee requirements, Congresswoman Beatty has certified that she and her immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects she has requested.
Project Name: Franklin County Emergency Operations Center Technology and Hardening
Project Recipient: Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security

Amount Requested: $637,500
Purpose: The funding would be used for technology and security upgrades at the Franklin County Emergency Operations Center. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will improve emergency management and preparedness capabilities for Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security, which serves Ohio’s most populous county.

Project Name: Crime Prevention and Youth Reengagement Program

Purpose: The funding would be used to place full-time school site coordinators inside schools to identify kids at risk of truancy, dropping out, or otherwise at-risk of academic failure, and to provide crime prevention, mental health services, and youth reengagement services. This project will be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will address youth crime and alleviate the burden on law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

Project Name: Global Positioning System Enhanced Security Project

Purpose: The funding would be used to purchase equipment to establish a GPS position, navigation, and timing (PNT) testbed comprised of manned and un-manned low and high-altitude aerial vehicles along with a backup PNT system to demonstrate viability under various real-world conditions. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because increasing GPS security is vital to aeronautics, commercial transportation, and national security.

Purpose: The funding would be used to increase middle and high school counselors’ and internship coordinators’ knowledge of cybersecurity, manufacturing, and other in-demand STEM jobs, advising them on opportunities within these growing employment areas, and supporting them with career exploration platforms. This project will be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will give school counselors the tools to connect students to workforce training and skills for in-demand jobs in science, manufacturing, cybersecurity, and other STEM fields important to the country's long-term economic competitiveness.
