Congresswoman Beatty Votes to Pass Bi-Partisan Veterans Appropriations Bill

Bill to provide benefits to veterans, their families, and their survivors

Washington, DC – This evening Congresswoman Beatty (OH-03) voted in favor of the bi-partisan Fiscal Year 2015 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, H.R. 4486. The $71.5 billion bill provides funding for domestic and foreign military installations and veterans’ healthcare and benefits services. The legislation passed the House with a vote of 416-1 and now heads to the Senate for consideration.

“I am pleased to cast my vote in support of this critical bi-partisan appropriations bill. Our nation’s veterans deserve the benefits they have earned. These funds will help over 43,000 veterans in Ohio’s Third Congressional District receive needed services.”

The final bill provides $6.5 billion for military construction, $64.7 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and nearly $200 million to reduce veterans’ benefit claims backlog and records digitization.

Discussing the importance of the legislation Rep. Beatty noted, “I look forward to getting this bill to President Obama’s desk for his signature so we can meet the needs of our service members, and continue to support our veterans, their families, and their survivors.”
