New Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen to testify before House Committee for first time
(Washington, D.C.) – Congresswoman Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement regarding the testimony of Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen before House Financial Services Committee.
Today, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) will have the opportunity to question new Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen as she testifies before the House Financial Services Committee.
In today's testimony, Chair Yellen stated, "too many Americans remain unemployed and inflation remains below our long-run objective..."
Congresswoman Beatty plans to discuss Chair Yellen’s strategy and approach on how the Federal Reserve will approach achieving both parts of its dual mandate of helping the economy return to full inflation and returning inflation to 2 percent.
“I look forward to the opportunity to hear Chair Yellen’s testimony and begin the critical dialogue regarding her approach to regulating the nation’s monetary policy.”
“Additionally, I congratulate her on her historic appointment as the first female Chair of the Federal Reserve Board in its 100 year history,” states Congresswoman Beatty.
The House Financial Services Committee convened its hearing today at 10:00am and will be in session for as long as Members wish to question the new Chair of the Federal Reserve Board.
