Congresswoman Beatty Announces the Winners of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition

Annual competition showcases the artistic talents of high school students across the country

COLUMBUS, OH. – Yesterday, April 6, 2016, the artistic works of Central Ohio high school students were on full display at the Columbus Museum of Art. During a special event, co-hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Congressman Steve Stivers (OH-15) and Congressman Pat Tiberi (OH-12), the grand prize winners from Ohio’s Third, Twelfth and Fifteenth Congressional Districts were announced before a packed crowd of participants, their families, friends, teachers and the general public.    

“I am honored to have Ohio’s Third Congressional District’s winning piece hang alongside the many great works of art from around the country in the U.S. Capitol,” Beatty said. “Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and thank you to everyone who participated.”

The 2016 Congressional Art Competition winners from Ohio’s Third Congressional District are:

  • 1st Place: Ty Palowski, Reynoldsburg High School, “Vacancy”
  • 2nd Place: Jazillee Williams, Fort Hayes Career Center, “What Is It?”
  • 3rd Place: Ericka Boalick, Whetstone High School, “Courageous Colors”
  • People Choice (based on Facebook likes): Ilya LaBozetta, Columbus North International High School, “Marauding Mime”
