Congresswoman Beatty Honors the Life, Love, and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, January 21, 2019 marks Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service, the annual celebration of the work and life of civil rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To commemorate the event, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:

“’What are you doing for others?’ That is what Dr. King said was life’s most persistent and urgent question. Dr. King fought his entire life not only to make our nation more just and equitable, but more civil, hospitable, and kind. That is what we must remember on this Day of Service: that we cannot simply lie down and hope for change. Each of us must actively question what more we can do for those around us. In that spirit, I implore all of us to use this day as an opportunity to serve our communities and fight for a world where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

To celebrate MLK National Day of Service, Beatty recorded a short video message encouraging all Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy by working to make a difference in his or her community. The video can be viewed on her official YouTube page.
