Beatty Recognizes the Significance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual initiative to increase awareness around breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment. As a strong supporter of women’s health, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

“According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one out of eight women in their lifetime will be diagnosed with breast cancer. However, you can have a better chance at detecting and treating breast cancer earlier by getting regular mammograms, conducting self-examinations and talking with your doctor. Still, finding a cure and preventing breast cancer altogether is our ultimate goal. That is why I will continue to call for greater funding to support research efforts at federal agencies like the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute—as well as non-governmental organizations that are working tirelessly to find a cure once and for all.”

During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please be sure to join the conversation online, and share your own story, by using: #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, #BCAM, #BCAM2017, and #FindTheCure.
