Congresswoman Beatty to Host Women Leaders Roundtable

COLUMBUS, OH – On Wednesday, September 3, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) will host a Women in Leadership Roundtable breakfast. The event will bring together a broad spectrum of female leaders from the Central Ohio region, most of who participated in Rep. Beatty's 2014 Congressional Women in Leadership Fly-In to Washington, D.C.

On the heels of Women's Equality Day on August 26th, a day to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution which granted women the right to vote, Wednesday's event will provide an opportunity for women leaders in Central Ohio to engage in discussions about legislative and policy matters of regional and national significance.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 3, 8:30-10:00 AM

WHERE: The Huntington Club, 411 Woody Hayes Dr., Columbus, OH 43210

WHAT: Rep. Beatty hosts roundtable with women in leadership to discuss national issues, public policy, and women's equality.

The Roundtable continues on Congresswoman Beatty's efforts to move forward on issues that matter most to women, mothers, daughters, and families.

On June 3, 2014, Rep. Beatty was joined in Columbus by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and other women Members of Congress as part of a national tour to highlight initiatives and efforts to improve gender equality. Currently, women make 77 cents on the dollar compared to their male counterparts with the same qualifications. The tour focused on ways to improve pay equity, work and family balance, and education.

The first of its kind on Capitol Hill, Rep. Beatty hosted the Congressional Women in Leadership Fly-In on April 28, 2014. Throughout the day, Women leaders from Ohio's Third Congressional District engaged in a dialogue about a range of policy issues central to women in leadership including a discussion with senior White House staff in the Roosevelt Room, just steps away from the Oval Office.

"It is fitting that the women leaders who participated in the Fly-In gather to discuss and strategize on ways to improve women's rights and equity on the heels of Women's Equality Day," said Rep. Beatty. "Our discussions in April helped form the Congressional legislative agenda on work-life balance, education, and the economy. I look forward to continuing our discussions next week."
