Beatty applauds Senate confirmation of Cordray

The U.S. Senate confirms Cordray as Director of the CFPB by a vote of 66–34

(Washington, D.C.)Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement in support of the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Richard Cordray as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

“I am truly pleased that the U.S. Senate confirmed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray. His confirmation will ensure that the Bureau’s critical efforts to provide representation and protection to consumers across the country in their financial activities will continue under his leadership.”

“My relationship with the Director goes back many years and I know, firsthand, how dedicated he is to his work and to consumer protection. I am confident that Director Cordray will continue to work diligently in his pursuit of the Bureau’s stated mission to develop and enforce federal consumer financial protection laws and promote financial literacy nationwide.”

“I applaud the Senate for taking this necessary step to reinforce further the importance of financial oversight in the U.S. I look forward to working with the Director on these issues while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
