Beatty Statement on Trump Administration FY2018 Budget Proposal

On May 23, 2017, President Donald Trump introduced the Administration's long-awaited Fiscal Year 2018 (FY2018) Budget Proposal. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:

In President Trump's ‘America,' countless individuals and hard-working families would lose their healthcare coverage, the ability to put food on the table and keep a roof over their family's heads. President Trump pledged time and time again on the campaign trail that he would defend and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid. However, he now proposes gutting Medicaid funding by $800 billion—not to mention eliminating a whole host of federal programs and agencies that have enjoyed strong, bipartisan support. It is abundantly clear to me that the Trump budget proposal will not make America great."
