Today, March 8, 2021, is International Women's Day (IWD), a celebration and recognition of the continuing contributions and amazing achievements of women from all walks of life across the world. This year's theme is "Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World," highlighting the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from COVID-19.

"The importance of International Women's Day 2021 cannot be overstated," Beatty said. "The COVID-19 Pandemic has shined a light on the many ‘sheroes' making a positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of their fellow citizens but, at the same time, the public health crisis has laid bare the all-too common disparities affecting women and young girls." She continued, "Today and every day, I call on people around the world to join forces and work together to demand women's full participation in the workforce, government, at home, and in every facet of our society."
