Congresswoman Beatty Marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month

All month long, government at all levels, disability organizations and nonprofits, and like-minded individuals are celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a national campaign to raise awareness of disability employment issues. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

“Unfortunately, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities is nearly double that for people without disabilities. We can do better. People with disabilities possess the skills and qualities needed to succeed in and outside the workplace. As a result, I urge Central Ohioans to join me in celebrating NDEAM, and to commit to creating an America where we emphasize one’s ability, not disability.”

For more information on NDEAM, please visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s website. Be sure to follow and join the conversation online by using: #NDEAM, #NDEAM2016 and #InclusionWorks.
